Public Service Announcements Urge Governor Quinn to Sign Casino Bill
Rockford, IL (PRWEB) July 21, 2011
The Rockford Casino Coalition will use public service announcements (PSAs) to send a message to Illinois Governor Pat Quinn that the people of the Rockford region want a casino. The announcements were unveiled at a news conference this afternoon.
The PSAs feature the faces and voices of real community members who support the casino initiative and urge Governor Pat Quinn to sign Senate Bill 0744, which opens the door for a casino in Rockford.
The promotions also encourage audience members to have their voices heard by signing the online petition. Both the petition and the PSA’s are available at http://www.RockfordCasinoCoalition.com.
“The casino revenue would come at a time when the jobless situation is still vulnerable. Let’s support a solution that will bring jobs and development opportunities to Rockford.” said Valerie Tippet, one of the people featured in the promotions.
The PSAs will run in local print media and on local television and radio stations. Media managers were on hand to express their support for the campaign and explain why they were willing to give advertising space and time to the PSA’s.
“It’s about jobs. It’s about putting people back to work in a community that has seen double-digit unemployment for more than 2 ½ years. The casino, and the jobs related to building it and sustaining it, is just one part of the solution to getting Rockford back on the right economic track,” said Wally Haas, editorial page editor for the Rockford Register Star.
The Rockford Casino Coalition was formed in support for the gaming expansion bill (SB 0744) and encourages Governor Pat Quinn to sign the bill. The Coalition’s founding partners represent more than 1,500 organizations and their 60,000 employees.
