Backwards with a Dot Com

For those who plumb the depths and darkest recesses of the internet and who believe that ancient, malevolent conspiracies exist, Illuminati is a word you're familiar with.

It means "enlightened" and is the name given to a supposed shadowy secret organization that many people believe controls the world through behind the scenes influence of governments and businesses and world leaders as it strives to reach it's goal, the so-called New World Order.

Conspiracy crap for the weak-minded you say? Probably right. But here's something odd. If you reverse the spelling of illuminati, making it itanimulli and then you add a "dot com", or in other words www.itanimulli.com, it takes you to somewhere unexpected. Click www.itanimulli.com.

That is very odd.

John,

I did a "WHOIS" lookup for the domain.

Here's who owns it:

Fenley, John Pontifier@hotmail.com
1985N 360E
Provo, Utah 84604-1803
United States
8014273274

Public info! There it is!!!

Well,

Something kooky when I first tried to do the look up. There are any number of sites that provide this info. So I found a site, put in the domain, and they usually ask you to enter "the number code" to prevent automated lookups. I tried twice, and despite the fact that I know I put in the right codes, it said I didn't. Then on the 3rd try, I got in, but the info it gave was sparse, almost a nothing reply.

I finally found the info you see on Godaddy.com.

Now to check this guy's address on google maps and make sure it's not a dirt road out to an abandoned mining claim outside of town.

Okay, when I looked at his address, it looks exactly like a "Township Designation" like they taight us in real estate class. That is, I expected to punch this in and see a coordinate in the desert. But not the case. I did the Google search. Here is his house:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=1985N+360E,+Provo+Utah&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=33.435463,56.513672&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=1985+N+360+E,+Provo,+Utah,+84604&ll=40.260382,-111.652374&spn=0.000982,0.001725&t=h&z=19

The streets in Provo have those odd designations. Hmmm...

What this does tell us is there is no privacy anymore, and you better keep your yard clean for when Google does their aerial pictures!

Doing a redirect with any domain name is pretty easy. I don't want to toss the possibilities out there, just use your imagination as to what you could do, considering you can buy a domain name for under ten bucks.

There is no privacy. Each time I power up my GPS, I think, "If this chip knows the precise obscure intersection I might be at in a tiny town, then someone, anyone, can probably figure out where I am."

Just remember that things are seldom what they appear to be. I mean, really, just look at John. Right, John? John? John? John?
