Oh Yeah?

My uncle Mike died this week. He was 71. He lived in Little Falls, New Jersey. Today was his funeral so Karen and I were up early and drove out to be there this morning. Uncle Mike was a great guy, a favorite uncle of mine. He was an aerospace engineer. A smart guy who always had a hint of an "Oh yeah?" grin on his face that often manifested in a good humored wisecrack.

Why am I telling you all this? Well because along with the sad there is an element of, oh, twisted opportunism maybe a little bit with this story?

The key is Little Falls. It's right in the middle of "Sopranos" country. Near Little Falls is Caldwell, NJ. That's where, at 14 Aspen Drive, the house that was portrayed as the home of Tony Soprano is located.

How do I know the address? It's no secret. Google "Tony Sopranos house".

So I put the address in the GPS and after the funeral and the luncheon we left and I pushed the Go button on 14 Aspen Drive which was about ten minutes away. It is a nice neighborhood. I have to imagine that even this long after the show ended there still have to be doofus rubberneckers like me who look for the house and take pictures. I only took one. I mean, people do live there. It felt like I was invading their privacy. So here's the picture.

Anyway, if including this weird little side trip into the ride to Little Falls was frivolous on this particular day I'm sorry but I think uncle Mike would have got a kick out of it. He probably would have made a wisecrack about it that cut me off at the knees...but he would have got a kick out of it.

Read a book called Pursuit of Elegance. The first chapter talked about the "elegance" of the last episode. At first, it pi*&^ed people off, but then it went viral, and it let people surmize their own ending.

I lived in Little Falls for about 6 months (my bf lives there) until I had to move back to PA for a job - About a month ago he took me to see the Sopranos house. I am also a dufass who drove up to the house and snapped pictures - 2yrs after the fact. I'm listening to you on the radio now talk about your experience. When I googled the address it SAYS you can ring the doorbell and they'll give you a tour of the house but I did not do that. Perhaps on my next visit to NJ... this weekend.

Hey Sarah, ring the doorbell and let me know what happens. If they're giving tours I'll take another ride and more pictures!
